People also know it as a wheel of luck or lucky wheel: a spinner that leaves the outcome to chance. Add your entries, one per line, and every spin picks one at random with equal odds, unless you weight an entry to give it more slices. Behind the animation the pick is honest; each result comes from your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, so no entry is quietly favoured and the wheel has no memory of earlier spins.

SpinOfLuck runs entirely in your browser with no signup, works for classrooms, giveaways, raffles, and decisions, and lets you weight names, pick multiple winners, and recolor the wheel.
What is a random name picker wheel?
A random name picker wheel is a tool that takes a list of names and randomly selects one by visually spinning a circular wheel divided into colored slices, one slice per name. The wheel decelerates and stops on a winner, making the choice feel fair and engaging. It's commonly used by teachers, raffle hosts, team leads, and streamers to make impartial picks in front of an audience.
Can I pick more than one winner per spin?
Yes. Open Settings and set 'Pick count' to 2 or more. The wheel will spin once for each winner, automatically excluding already-picked names, then show the full winner list at the end.
Is there a bottle spinner mode?
Yes. In Settings, switch the spinner mode from Wheel to Bottle. Names are arranged as colored seats around the perimeter and a bottle in the centre rotates and lands pointing at the winner.
Can multiple people join the same wheel online?
Yes. Click 'Host room' to start a multiplayer session, and you'll get a room code and an invite link. Anyone who opens the link picks a display name and joins the same wheel in real time. Only the host (or a co-host, with Premium) can spin; everyone watches the same animation and sees the same winner. Rooms auto-delete 24 hours after the host's last activity.
Is the wheel spin truly random?
Yes. The winner is chosen with crypto.getRandomValues(), the Web Crypto API's cryptographically secure random number generator, instead of the predictable Math.random(). The browser draws values from the operating system's entropy pool, so no one (including us) can predict or influence the outcome. The spin animation is purely cosmetic: the winner is selected the instant you click Spin, and the wheel animates to land on it. Don't take our word for it: our Probability Simulator lets you run up to 100,000 test spins and chart the distribution yourself.
Can I weight some names more than others?
Yes. Add a multiplier with an asterisk: 'Alice*3' gives Alice three slices on the wheel, making her three times more likely to win than a single-entry name.
Are my entries and results saved?
Yes. Your wheels, entries, custom colors, and spin history are saved automatically to your browser's local storage. Reload the page or come back tomorrow and they're still there. They never leave your device unless you explicitly share a wheel link, join a multiplayer room, or back them up to an optional account. Beyond that, the only thing we record on a server is an anonymous spin counter and your country (e.g. 'US', 'IN') so we can understand usage at a high level. See the Terms page for full details.
Can I customize how the wheel looks?
Yes, for free. In the wheel editor you can pick one of 6 label fonts, put your logo (or your own text) in the centre, choose a preset palette or your own colours, give each name its own colour in the Colors tab, set a solid or gradient background, pick from 13 wheel shapes or bottle mode, and choose the pointer style and colour. Sound packs, spin length, confetti and a custom winner message are in Settings too. Everything is saved with the wheel.
Can I share a wheel with someone else?
Yes. Click the share icon to copy a URL containing the encoded wheel. Anyone who opens the link is offered to import the wheel into their own browser.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. The interface is fully responsive and the wheel can be spun by tapping it. Fullscreen mode is also supported for presentations.
Is SpinOfLuck free?
Yes. The wheel, every tool, sharing, verifiable draws and multiplayer rooms are free to host, with no account needed and no ads. Premium is optional: one payment of $50 for 1 year that never renews, and it adds extras such as premium room capabilities and your own room code. Unless you opt in to an account or a room, we collect no personal data; the only thing recorded on a server is an anonymous spin counter and country code, as described in our Privacy Policy.
